Residents: help us improve our services

We are looking for engaged residents to become members of our:

  • Scrutiny group (open to all residents).
  • Resident policy and scrutiny panel (two members).
  • Customer services committee (two members).

There are three opportunities for residents to make a real difference to those living in Local Space homes by helping us identify areas for improvement and deliver high-quality services that meet residents’ needs.

Customer services committee members will receive remuneration for their time and engagement. Residents who actively engage in meetings and projects on our panel and group will be paid for their time. Committee, panel, and group members will attend an induction, training and receive ongoing support to carry out their roles.

We are looking for residents who want to develop their skills and knowledge, who care about diversity and inclusion and want to improve the experience of all Local Space residents.

We believe that diversity on our committee, panel and group strengthens our decision making and enables us to serve our customers more effectively. As such, we welcome and encourage applications from residents from all backgrounds.

The deadline for applications and expressions of interest is on Friday 6 December.

How does the committee, panel and group work together?

The customer services committee sits within the governance structure of Local Space and has a minimum of six members (with at least three members being residents). The committee reviews operational service standards and core landlord services to ensure that Local Space has the strategies and policies necessary to meet residents’ needs. The committee will make recommendations to the Board regarding service improvements and developments to benefit residents and plays a critical role in ensuring that Local Space is accountable to its residents and responsive to their needs. We are looking for two new members to join this committee.

The resident policy and scrutiny panel helps to scrutinise our services, suggest improvements and tackle local issues. The panel gives residents a voice, ensures that we are aware of residents’ concerns, decides what is important for their local areas and oversees local improvements. They feedback to the committee, who can make recommendations to the Board. We are looking for two new members to join this panel.

The scrutiny group also helps to scrutinise our services, suggest improvements and tackle local issues. All feedback from this group will be shared with the panel and the committee. We are looking for as many residents as possible to join this group and take part in projects as and when needed throughout the year, based on interests, lived experience, and knowledge of different subject areas. This is a flexible role where you can engage on a project-by-project basis.

Scrutiny group (open to all residents)

As a scrutiny group member, you will contribute to specific, time-limited projects which scrutinise different aspects of Local Space’s services. Each project will draw upon your lived experience and knowledge, enabling you to provide feedback on issues that directly affect your community.

Once a project is complete, the group disbands, making this a flexible role for those who wish to engage on a project-by-project basis.
